susan broadhurst Hope Tribute Fund

susan broadhurst was born on January 14, 1948. She is much loved and will always be remembered by all her friends and family. I met Susan in 1980 and we married in 1981. Susan has a son by a previous marriage, Matthew who I adopted. Susan had secretarial skills and had many different jobs culminating as librarian in a busy school. Susan was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1994 and had a mastectomy. Ten years later she was signed off as "clear" but a year later the cancer was back. Thanks to the brilliant people at The Christie, Susan got 6 more years of quality life but finally succumbed in September 2010 after a mercifully short illness. Susan was a real "battler" and never let the illness get her down; she fought it to the end. All her many friends will never forget her 60th birthday party when she organised a coach for a mystery weekend away; over 30 people, friends and family had a memorable time. Susan loved her family and friends and would never turn down invitations. She was a loving wife and mother and was the inspiration for our son Matthew, who was born with cerebral palsy, to overcome his disability and become the fine young man he is today. Susan had no real dislikes and a great love for life and adventure; we travelled together to some incredible places and even right at the end we travelled to Poland for the wedding of Graham, the son of a close friend Maureen. She will be missed by all who new her; she touched the lives of so many people. I am sure Susan was present in Spirit to hear Sandra's moving tribute and was smiling with us.
